Government joins Facebook: new initiative to promote blood donation

The Tamil Nadu government has partnered with Facebook to raise awareness about blood donation.

Tamil Nadu is India’s leading state with the largest amount of blood and voluntary donations. However, the Tamil Nadu government plans to reduce the gap between donors and those in need of blood. Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu government has joined hands with Facebook.

Accordingly, all blood banks in the state should use Facebook as a medium to access voluntary blood donors. All Blood Bank employees will be given special training for this purpose. They can easily use Facebook’s blood donation feature. Blood donors can be accessed through Facebook and Blood Bank.

Facebook, a popular social network, launched a blood donation facility in 2017 to promote blood donation. It is introducing a list of beneficiaries who need blood nearby. Not only did it significantly increase the number of donors, but it also made it easier to get the rare blood needed during emergencies.

In 2017, Facebook debuted in India, Bangladesh, Brazil and Pakistan. Of these, 5 million users have registered with interest.
