At the time of issuing the AGR amount; Supreme Court rejects Vodafone petition: Vodafone, Tata pays Tk 6,6 crore

New Delhi

Vodafone Idea filed a petition in the Supreme Court asking for more time to pay its share of government revenue. The Supreme Court, however, rejected the plea agreement.

The Supreme Court had already stated that telecommunications companies must pay the AGR amount as soon as payment is made.

However, the Supreme Court has strongly criticized the company and the telecommunication department for contempt. Companies were forced to pay AGR by midnight last Friday due to the telecommunications crisis. Airtel has already raised enough money and promised to pay the dues. However, Vodafone contacted the Supreme Court on Tuesday seeking additional time because of the financial crisis. However, the Supreme Court rejected the Vodafone application.

Vodafone is currently paying Rs 2,500 crore. Tata Tele Services has provided an AGR of Rs 2.5 crore.
