The Zenoss Core project announced the general availability of Zenoss Core version 2.5.1 which is under the GNU General Public License (V2). It is now available as a free and open source solution for the operating system of Microsoft Windows.
The Zenoss Core project is one among the leading open source IT monitoring and management solutions. They deliver the functionality to efficiently manage the configuration, fitness and performance of networks, applications and servers through a distinct, integrated software package. This latest release of the open source monitoring and system management project makes it possible for users to run apps compiled for Linux under Windows. It comes with a native look and feel and uses the beta version of the LINA run-time environment which is developed by Lina Software.
Zenoss Core users can set up Zenoss as an application in Microsoft Windows using LINA. LINA is a lightweight runtime environment that permits developers to write and compile code by means of free Open Source Linux tools. LINA and Zenoss are currently looking for public to download, test and make use of the LINA installer for Zenoss. It is with the intention that it can continue to be optimized for Windows monitoring.
The downloading of Zenoss Core for Windows installer can be done directly from the LINA website. This installer functions on any operating system where the run-time environment of LINA has been deployed. Zenoss Core is well-matched to monitor Microsoft operating systems and apps.
The community-developed plug-ins including Windows SNMP Monitors, Windows Exchange Monitoring, Microsoft SQL ODBC Database Monitor, Microsoft Virtual Server Monitoring, Windows IIS Performance Monitoring have been developed to offer deep monitoring of Microsoft technologies. These plug-ins are known as ZenPacks. You can find Zenoss Microsoft monitoring ZenPacks in the Zenoss ZenPack Library. The Zenoss Community also features a Windows monitoring forum to talk about issues connected to monitoring Microsoft Windows.
