Sweden Withdraws the Arrest Warrant for Julian Assange

Sweden decided to withdraw the arrest warrant against wikileaks founder Julian Assange that was issued yesterday. The prosecutors said that they could not find any evidence on the rape accusation. “I don’t think there is reason to suspect that he has committed rape,” said the chief prosecutor Eva Finne. But Julian Still remains suspected of another case of molestation. Julian had dismissed the allegations before saying that the charges are without basis and are deeply disturbing at this moment.

Julian Assange

Julian Assange was in Sweden last week to request for legal protection for his website. He came to Sweden to obtain a publishing certificate for Wikileaks because Wikileaks has servers in Sweden. There is not much information available about Julian Assange or the team working behind Wikileaks. It is expected to be a small team of a dozen volunteers. Julian Assange doesn’t even have a permanent address. He keeps on travelling from one place to another and sometimes disappears all of a sudden. Earlier the Swedish tabloid Expressen reported the rape allegation. Wikileaks then responded to it saying that “We were warned to expect dirty tricks. Now we have the first one”.
