Sony X-series Walkman is the first touch screen Walkman from Sony.It is actually an internet ready portable media player.It do have a 16:9 touch,3 inch OLED screen display.It also includes the applications like digital noise cancellation,which helps the X-series to work more accurately and efficiently compared to the other Sony Walkmans.Another application is the addition of wireless internet facility.So it can directly access the Youtube.It also helps the automatic dowloading of files.

There are two versions are available for the Sony X- series Walkmans.One is the 16GB version which is the X1050 model and the 32GB version  which is the X1060 model.The only difference is the capacity.Both have the OLED 3 inch display,FM RADIO,WiFi application etc.They will support every audio files like MP3,WMA,AAC etc, and will support video files like WMV,AVC and MPEG-4 etc.

SCREEN

Sony X-series is the first touch screen Walkman from the Sony.It do have a stunning OLED screen which is generally responsive.It has the 3 inch,16:9 display.Another advantage is its cover flow-style navigation.The screen is actually small  when compared to the ipod’s touch.So the width of the Walkman is also small(50mm).So it is easier to pocket and hold the X-series compared to the ipod’s touch.

SOUND

X-series sound quality is much better than the ipod’s touch.It has a nifty sound processing feature.It restores detail in the compressed music.X-series is actually the first music player which allows the built in noise reduction.So the user can hear music without using any battery powered head phones.DSEE up scaling and the stereo are the other features that X-series have,which helps to increase the sound quality.

VIDEO

Maximum video resolution display of X-series is  320*240.Video is faultless and the colours of the video are vibrant.The picture noise is minimum.Comparedto the ipod’s touch the video resolution of the X–series is low.But X-series will support downloaded I player contents,which is not available in the  ipod’s touch.Another advantage of X-series is that it allows direct video recording.So it is possible to record videos from Bravia TV’s.

PHYSICAL DESIGN

X-series has a special rough glaze on its metal sides,which will help to prevent the hand slippings.Another advantage is its hardware buttons.The top buttons of the X-series is cleverly placed so it easy for in-pocket operation.The excessive labelling and stickers make the X-series an impressive solid machine

WEB

X-series has the WiFi application.WiFi is built in with a web browser in it.It makes the browsing process easy and quick to navigate.It also helps to increase the loading speed,too.

DISADVANTAGES

1.Video resolution and the screen is not as big as the ipod’s touch

2.Built in noise cancelling system is not better than the usual sound isolating headphones.

3.Because of its phone like  keypad layout it is difficult to type.So the searching process through the web is difficult
