Everything on the glob is turning digital. The digital axis on which the earth rotates now a days has changed the way of living globally in all phases of life. One such innovation is the digital reader or e-reader. In an e-reader the books and magazines, which usually come in large no of pages and numerous volumes comprises to a single frame where pages scrolls and volumes rests in files. The storage, reading, taking notes, marking for reference, and everything related to the habit of reading are well accommodated with the modern e-readers.
The current industry leader among the e-readers is Amazon’s Kindle. It has got some exciting features like an e-commerce platform for Books, Magazines, and Journals etc. The latest versions like Kindle DX comes with Wi-Fi, 3G, Wireless etc. Enhanced readability and storage capabilities are also incorporated with these readers.
Recently a start-up company from California named Plastic Logic launched an e-reader which has almost similar functionality to the Kindle DX. This e-reader is a strong competitor against the monopoly of Amazon’s kindle in the field of e-readers. The product demo has been made in the Wall Street Journal’s D7 Tech Demo, by the Plastic Logic CEO Mr. Richard Archuleta. As mentioned the product has got similar functionalities as the Amazon’s Kindle DX. The e-reader has got it’s own e-commerce platform for books, magazines, news papers, journals etc. The reader is equipped with Wi-Fi, wireless and 3G facilities. The product doesn’t have a keyboard and equipped with touch panel operation. Another important fact about the design is that the product is much firmer. So far it is believed that if the company can sell the e-reader at a lower price than that of the Kindle, the product will be a big success.
