Step 1: Get the device

Arrange a head set with an earphone and a microphone, and with good quality of sound.

Step 2: Install a VoIP client

The built in voice over IP client for talkshoe is not that good. So it is good to download a separate one and install it. I will suggest SJPhone by SJLabs in this context. You must have a good broadband connection which supports VoIP. VoIP requires a minimum of 96kbps. You can check whether your broadband connection supports VoIP by simply going to MySpeed’s VoIP Speed Test . To set up the SJ phone follow these steps

1. Open SJPhone and click on MENU.
2. Click on options.
3. Select the profile tab and click on the new icon to create a new profile.
4. In the tab that opens you will need to type in your profile name better give that talkshoe itself. Change the profile type to Direct ISP Calls. Click on ok.
5. Now you will be guided to the previous window, check the box Use discovered addresses in SIP checkbox there.
6. Now in options window make sure that the profile TalkShoe is present and it’s status is ‘in use’.
   

Step 3: Sign UP in TalkShoe

Once you enter the TalkShoe click on the sign up button and follow the instructions listed there. It is simple to register your account. Just use your home phone number when you are using a VoIP client.

Step 4: Creating the test podcast

It is always better to run a test podcast before you begin the actual experience. Try out the following steps.

Click on create on top left of the screen

On the screen that appears click on or create a new call series.

Now you will be taken to a more attractive window. Select the type as unlisted to avoid other users , poping up into your podcast.  Make the recording automatic which will setup the talkshoe to record your podcast as soon as you start it. Always better to give the word TEST somewhere in the title.

Click on start now and you will be shown a new window with a big fat green button in it. Click on it and you are almost done. Now you will be taken to a window which looks like a chat box.

Step 5: Calling to your show.

The stage is set, the anchor is ready and what you need now is the audience. So why wait start broadcasting your show. You will have to enter the call id now. Open the SJPhone and enter the following id as the number to call

Where CALL ID is the number of your show and PIN is the number you get when you sign up. Once you enter the long string click on the blue Dial number icon. If it is working properly you will receive a confirmation message saying “Start Talking”. Now you are done with your show, careful dude you are podcasting your show. Try to make some test runs and learn various options available. Because when you podcast there is no room for mess-ups .
