We often see fog scenes in movies. In movies, they make fog effects using a fog machine. Using flash, we can produce fog effects on photos. First take a photo on which we want to create fog effects. Now turn to File > New, and create a new, flash document. Select Flash document and click OK. Import the image to library by File > Import > Import to library. Now select the image to import it to the library. Drag the image to the stage area, from library.

Resize the stage area, to the size of your imported image. Click on the image and the properties panel will appear at the bottom by default. Note the height and breadth of your image and re-size the stage area accordingly. Align your image and from align panel, and make sure that you click first To stage icon, then align top edge and left edge. Rename the first film as “background”. Lock this film. Create a new layer name it as fog. Select the Brush, set the stoke color to white. Choose the size of brush. Medium size is enough for the brush. Draw some random wiggles on layer two, on the stage area’s lower part. Select all the drawn wiggles using the Selection tool.

Either press F8 or Go to modify > convert to symbol. Now there is a movie clip with you, name it as fog-mc. To edit the movie clip fog-mc, double click on it. Select everything with the selection tool. Holding on to Shift and Alt buttons, drag them to the right to make a copy. To create a new frame, press F^ and scroll the timeline up to frame 200. To add motion tween from frames 1 to 100, right-click between them, and select “Create Motion Tween”. To select the movie clip, select frame 200. Then hold on Shift button so that we can drag the wiggles to the right, till it matches the same wiggle shape. Keep in mind that the objects are released on a different position.

Preview the loop by pressing Ctrl button and Enter button together. To transform these wiggles to a fog effect, we need to blur it. Select the movie clip and Go to Filters tab. Now click on the plus icon/button to add blur. Set the Blur Y and Blur X to around 70, with the Quality Low. We can preview the picture by clicking Ctrl + Enter.
