Google testing new Touch phone, Nexus Mobile

Google is checking a new Google touch phone, which is called as “Nexus One”. Google has given out the device to employees all through the world, aiming at using their feedback to improve the phone. The Nexus phone is a device that runs on the new 2.1 Android OS, created by Taiwanese phone maker HTC for running on GSM technology, says the employees.

With this, users would be capable of choosing their carrier from a menu that could be dropped down. Thus, since the phone makes use of GSM, carriers AT&T and T-Mobile are the valid choices in the U.S. It is common in US for phone manufacturers to make partnership with carriers who support the phone in exchange for a long-term agreement with the consumer.

Conversely, this is not the case in some up-and-coming markets, where it is expected to decide the phone first and afterward the carrier that one thinks most reliable. As a result, Google’s tactics would toil well in these markets. The competitive situation in the U.S. would be messed up though, with the company ditched against its own partners. First in them would be the newly launched Motorola Droid, which is at present being sold by Verizon Wireless.

Samsung that works on phones based on Android OS could also be alienated.
The Apple iPhone is possibly the strongest competition, followed by RIM’s Blackberry. As per IDC, consumers had little eagerness for the Android phones, which were normally pushed by carriers. One of the reasons why Google is in front of these issues is because of the fact that Android is an open source platform. It permits different versions to be made for different phones. This means, for each different version different apps would have to be written which makes it extremely difficult for the app writers to make any money.

In this case, it is natural that the writers prefer to write applications for the Blackberry or the iPhone. The lesser number of apps makes the Android phones hideous and Google’s choice to come out with its own phone was the only feasible solution to the dilemma. It can now sell its own brand without bewildering customers and can also get more apps written.
