Dell Latitude XT2
At a starting price of $1929, the Dell Latitude is easily one of the most expensive tablets in the market. This business grade notebook offers multi-touch finger and digitized pen controls and with some new and innovative features added on is an easy and compact notebook.
Powered with a Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 1.4GHz (800MHz FSB, 3MB L2 Cache) , this 11.7 x 8.7 x 1.1″ is a very professional notebook in its looks. The sharp edges and lines in dark grey design give it a very raw look with even its screws exposed. One good point about the design is the care taken by the manufacturers in maintaining its simplicity ensuring an easy clean and ease of maintenance. The Latitude XT2 has no rounded sides or sloped edges and is extremely compact that a user would not mind holding it for long. A frame and a set of screws keeps the 120GB Toshiba 1.8″ 5400RPM HDD placed beneath the battery and the notebook has its RAM, WiFi-card, and WWAN-card located under a single access panel. This enables easy access to any components. The best part is the user removable BIOS chip with a pull tab which is extremely handy in case of a failed BIOS update.
A typical notebook from the series features a 12.1″ Premium WXGA (1280 x 800) LED-Backlight Display with Multi-touch and 8X CD / DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive) through docking station. Latitude XT2 has an Intel X4500MHD Integrated Graphics and 3GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM (2GB + 1GB) with Intel 5100AGN WiFi, Bluetooth, and 1Gb Ethernet for connectivity. The notebook offers excellent thermal performance with very mild heating, that the fan system in the notebook hardly starts for cooling. The fan noise is also very minimal. The keyboard sensitivity is also excellent and offers a comfortable typing experience.
Battery life is also reasonable for its genre, though many other notebooks perform better in this aspect. It offers a 6-Cell 42WHr Battery which means that it could work for approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes with the screen brightness of 70% ,live wireless connectivity with the OS set to balanced power profile. Dell offers a 45Wh slice battery, which should means more than double the battery life. The bottom-line is that Dell Latitude is easily an excellent tablet for business use with superior portability and performance.
