The iPhone is an unusually fun platform when it comes to gaming. With all types of games, from classic titles to latest 3D breakout games, everyone gets their part. There are a lot of games based on words all of which has their own type of interface and gameplay and offers entertainment in its own way.
1. Scramboni
Scramboni is a multiplayer online game. Tiles will be appearing on the screen. You have to unscramble words by clicking on it. You get points for guessing the words correctly. Bonus can be grabbed if you could submit the correct answer quicker than all others. The gameplay is simple. It has got 20 rounds with 20 seconds each. You will be given a jumble of letters. All you have to do is to solve the anagram by tapping the letters in the right order as fast as possible. Four skill levels are there. You have to play the game and gain points to go up the level or else you will be stuck on level one.
2. Bookworm
Bookworm is one among the most popular digital word game of all time. It contains almost the entire volume of words from the Oxford Dictionary. Bookworm offers two modes namely Classic and Timed. You have to find words in a series of lettered tiles that fill the screen in each mode. To spell a word the Tiles must be adjacent to each other. In the beginning you have to pass through a few three and four letter words. Later on you will have seven and eight letter words snaking across the screen. Completed words are added to a library at the bottom of the screen. The game turns harder as the level goes up. There are special tiles as well in the game. These tiles can be good and bad. Depending on your performance they appear in the game. There is a casual mode has no timer on it and so is best suited for beginners to learn the game.
3. Wordfu
Wordfu is a word-finding game which utilizes the realistic on screen dice with word finding. The game itself is very simple, but is delivered with a different style. You are presented with 9 dice which has different letters on each side. You have to shake your phone to rescramble the dice within the given bit of time or you may flick the die to re-roll it. Once you stop the roll with your set of letters or time runs out, the game can be started. You will have 45 seconds to find as many words as possible. In standard mode, letters can be used more than once per word or can be restricted to one use in Shaolin mode. As you steps forward, you can get power-up dice which will give you special abilities like freezing time, doubling your score and rerolling one die.
4. WordJong
WordJong game is a mix between Mahjong and Scrabble. It is a simple, yet interesting game. You are supposed to create words using a set of lettered tiles and complete Mahjong solitaire puzzles. You have to build long words to gain as many points as possible. Aim for high-scoring words with which you can earn gold coins and bomb power-ups. Your objective should be to clear the board with no leftover letters. There are 7 characters in the game. Each of them has a unique personality and style which presents you with different levels of difficulty that range from rabbit which represents easy level to dragon which is the toughest.
5. Hangman
Hangman is one of the famous word games. It is an excellent educational tool for players of all age group. The goal of the game hangman is to guess a hidden word letter by letter before getting hanged. Another part of the picture of hanged man will be added for each of the questions you go wrong. If the picture gets completed before you guess the word correctly, the game is lost. If you don’t know the word that was hidden even after it is revealed, you can add it to the vocabulary by tapping on the question mark icon. It has got 5 different graphical theme and 18 different word list for the gamers to choose. You can play it solo or with your friend. In the 2 player mode, one player will have to type the word for the other to guess.
6. Wordspell
Wordspell is an interesting word game in which you have to help a wizard to replace all the titles in his spell book that has disappeared. You have to rearrange letters to form common words. At the bottom of the screen you will have six letters. Click on them to make three, four, five or six letter words. Click again when your word is created. This makes the wizard wave his wand and add the word to the book titles. You will get points depending on the length of the word. The more the words you create the more points you get. You can move on to the next level only after meeting your goal in the present level. Up you go the levels, the game gets harder and time limit becomes less as well.
7. Mad Libs
The Mad Libs let users enjoy word game play and share their silly Mad Libs story with friends and family. The game is all about filling a list of words in the blanks in a story. Opening the app you get the main screen which has some options in it. You can select the option to play mad lib from among the options. This selection will provide you with a screen having a list of blanks in it. You just have to fill them. You should add certain type of word like adjective, noun, number in the blanks. Each blank demands the type of word to be added. You can select ‘go’ after you are finished and this will bring up a story with the words you have used.
8. Word Breaker
Word Breaker is a word game of guessing words by using logic and strategy. It is a code breaking game where you guess words and solve it. The gamers need to guess a five lettered word. You can have as many chances as you want. The wordbreaker will tell you which letter is wrong and which is right after each guess you make. You will be awarded with points on each correct guess you make. You can have hints if you are stucked but you will lose some points for this.
9. Word Warp
Word Warp is a challenging word game where you have to make as many words as possible out of the given six letters before the time runs out. You will get points for each word you make but to go to the next level you will have to make at least one six letter word out of all the given letters. There is also an option to rise up the time given but ten the game turns more challenging. When you are stumped, make use of the warp button which will rearrange some letters.
10. Word Solitaire
Word Solitaire is game that adds Grammar to Traditional Solitaire. Word Solitaire cards are similar to traditional playing cards with a difference that cards representing letter of the alphabets are used instead of traditional playing cards. The players have to stack cards on top of one another and create words. Expose more cards until all the letters that have been provided are arranged into words.

The most of them i knew already except hangman for iphone. Its funny to play with friends, now u can also play via bluetooth. rocks :)
